Dr. Miguel Garcia-Torres

Miguel García Torres is an associate professor in the Escuela Politécnica Superior of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide. He received the BS degree in physics and the PhD degree in computer science from the Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. After obtaining the doctorate he held a postoc position in the Laboratory for Space Astrophysics and Theoretical Physics at the National institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA).

There, he joined in the Gaia mission from the European Space Agency (ESA) and started to participate in the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC) as a member of “Astrophysical Parameters”, Coordination Unit (CU8). He has been involved in the “Object Clustering Analysis” (OCA) Development Unit for more than 10 years. He has been involved in serveral healthcare projects as main researcher. His research areas of interests include machine learning, mbioinformatics, etaheuristics, big data, time series forecasting, and astrostatistics. He has coauthored more than 60 papers in international journals.

Dr. Kalyana C. Veluvolu

Dr. Kalyana C. Veluvolu is a Professor at the College of IT Engineering, Kyungpook National University, South Korea. He is currently the Head of the Intelligent Systems and Control Division of School of Electronics Engineering. He is also the director of the research lab where he heads an interdisciplinary research group whose interests lie at the intersection of intelligence, robotics, sensing systems and health-care. Since 2009, he has been with the College of IT Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea.

He received the B.Tech degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Nagarjuna University, India, in 2002, and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he was a Research Fellow with the Robotics Research Center, Nanyang Technological University. He was attached to the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, as a Visiting Professor during 2016–2017. He has also held several visiting positions in University of Newcastle, UK, and University of Valenciennes, France.

He has been a Principal Investigator or a Co-Investigator on a number of research projects funded by government, industry, and universities with a total budget of over 8 Million US$. He also received several awards for research excellence including the prestigious KNU Academic (Life time) Award in 2022 and Excellent Research Award awarded by Ministry of Education, South Korea in 2018. Further, he was also awarded with best teaching award in 2021. He has authored or co-authored more than 130 journal articles and conference proceedings. He is currently the Associate Editor for Journal of The Franklin Institute, Systems Science and Control Engineering Journals, Electronics, Complex Engineering Systems, etc., He has been on technical/program committees of several international conferences. Dr. Veluvolu is also a senior member of IEEE.

Prof. Maode Ma

Research Professor

Title: Detection of Falsified Location Information on the Internet of Vehicles by Machine Learning

Prof. Maode Ma, a Fellow of IET, received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1999. Prof. Ma is a Research Professor in the College of Engineering at Qatar University in Qatar. He has extensive research interests including network security and wireless networking. He has over 490 international academic publications including about 250 journal papers and over 240 conference papers. His publication has received close to 10,000 citations in Google Scholar.

Prof. Ma currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Computer and Communication Engineering and the Journal of Communications. He also serves as a Senior Editor for IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing and the International Journal of Communication Systems. Prof. Ma is a senior member of the IEEE Communication Society and a member of ACM. He is now the Chair of the ACM, Singapore Chapter. Prof. Ma has been a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Communication Society from 2013-2016 and from 2023-2024.




Dr Pablo Perez Tirador

Title: Security on embedded and low power devices

Pablo Perez Tirador received a BE in Telecommunication Engineering (with Honors) from University San Pablo CEU in 2014, an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 2015 and a PhD in Medical Imaging from University College London in 2021. His research has been focused on the use of signal analysis and the development of electronics for investigating the brain and the heart. He is currently an assistant professor at University San Pablo CEU where he teaches digital electronics and computer architecture for communications and biomedical engineering. He is currently researching hardware development for embedded ECG analysis and data security in low power and embedded hardware.
